Scarborough is one of North Yorkshire's best loved seaside towns. Scarborough's South Bay is a magnificent sight when
viewed from the South Cliff. The sand is fine and is very
popular in the summer months. There is a well protected
harbour with lots of fishing and pleasure boats.
Scarborough was a favoured resort in
Victorian times and has many grand buildings from the
period. The Spa is set on Scarborough's South Bay in a prominent
position. There are cliff lifts close by to take you into
the town centre when you're ready to leave the beach.
Along the sea-front and on the pier are
amusements and rock shops, but on the whole Scarborough
does keep its Victorian grandeur.
Set on the cliffs between
the North and South Bays stands Scarborough Castle. At Scarborough's
North Bay you will find lots of things to do such as
the Sea Life Centre - three huge pyramid-like structures,
Peasholm Park, Wet and Wild and many other visitor
attractions.
