The North Yorkshire Moors have vast areas of heather interspersed with tranquil dales and woodland. There are many historic houses and ruined castles and monasteries. When the heather is flowering there can be no more amazing sight.
The famous Lyke Wake Walk - a
40 mile walk across the top of the Moors to be completed
within the day - traditionally starts at Osmotherly and
ends in Ravenscar on the coast.
