Helmsley
Helmsley is a very pretty town set around a market square. Helmsley has many interesting shops and smaller streets off the main square to explore.
A small stream runs down one of these streets creating a charming rural scene.
Helmsley's buildings are mainly constructed from Yorkshire stone and the red roofs are most striking as you approach the town.
Helmsley lies on the main route through the yorkshire moors to the coast and many tourists take the opportunity to stop, explore and take refreshment at one of the many inns and tea-rooms.
Helmsley castle stands at the edge of the town. Embankments and ditches and half of the original keep still remain.
